RS PRO Compact Reed Proximity Sensor
RS PRO compact reed proximity sensor which feature normally open contacts that close in the presence of a ferrous metal. These sensors are ideal for ferrous metal detection in robotics, automated production lines, security and safety applications.
Options include the following:
136-5753 - Reed switch front sensing
136-5754 - Reed switch bottom sensing
136-5755 - Reed switch top sensing
136-5756 - Reed switch side sensing
136-5757 - Reed switch top sensing
Reed switches are a type of industrial switch and are used to interrupt or redirect the flow of electricity within a circuit. Reed switches are composed of two ferrous reeds in a small glass casing. The switches are magnetised and move when the magnetic field is moved towards the switch. A reed switch can turn on or off when a magnetic field is nearby.
RS PRO have a great range of industrial magnetic proximity switches and magnetic proximity sensors to suit many different applications.
Features and Benefits:
Normally open contact 6 mm activation distance (may vary depending on iron content)
Switching voltage 140 V ac, 200 V dc
Maximum switching load 10 W, 0.25 A
Operating temperature -40° to 85°C
ABS plastic housing material
2 core cable - 2 x 0.14 mm² Grey PVC insulated, Brown/ White
Different sensing directions
Non powered rectangular sensor
Typical Applications:
Reed Proximity Switches and Proximity Sensors (also known as magnetic sensors) are popular due to their reliability and simple design. These sensors can be found in the following applications:
Gate closed detection
Robotics sensing
Automated production lines
Safety guards
FAQs
What is a magnetic proximity switch?
Magnetic proximity switches are a type of electromagnetic switch which controls the flow of electricity within a circuit.
What is the difference between a proximity switch and a proximity sensor?
A proximity sensor is a sensor which is able to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. Proximity switches open or close an electrical circuit when they make contact with or come within a certain distance of an object.
